Budapest Transport Service At The End Of The Year – Information
BKK Centre for Budapest Transport provides continuous public transport services during the holidays. On New Year’s Eve, substantially more frequent services and buses with higher capacity will ensure that everyone will be able to reach their destination in Budapest. Public transport on 30 December: year-end schedules
On 30 December 2013 (Monday) the workday schedules during school holiday apply , while some lines (as indicated in their schedules) operate less frequently according to end-of-the-year schedules. Lines with special end-of-the-year schedules are the following:
Metro: M1, M2, M3,
Suburban railway: H5, H6, H7, H8, H9,
Trams: 1, 2, 4, 6, 14, 18, 24, 47, 49, 50, 61,
Buses: 5, 7, 7A, 7E, 8, 9, 11, 16, 16A, 20E, 21, 22, 22A, 23, 23E, 25, 30, 30A, 32, 34, 35, 36, 44, 45, 53, 54, 55, 67, 68, 84E, 85, 85E, 86, 89E, 94E, 95, 97E, 99, 103, 105, 106, 107E, 112, 122, 130, 133E, 134, 139, 151, 152, 159, 169E, 171, 178, 182, 194, 194B, 196, 196A, 212, 220, 225, 230, 233E, 239, 240, 240E, 244, 276E,

Public transport during the daytime on 31 December: year-end schedules
On 31 December 2013 (Tuesday) workday schedules during school holiday apply while some lines (as indicated in their schedules) operate less frequently according to end-of-the-year schedule. Lines with special end-of-the-year schedules are the following:

Public transport on New Year’s Eve: more frequent night services
Following the last departures of daytime lines, night services operate on more frequent schedules. Trams 4 and 6 run every 5 minutes on Nagykörút (Grand Boulevard). The cogwheel railway (line 60) operates at night as well every 60 minutes. Night services – with some exceptions – are provided with more frequency or higher capacity while some buses operate for an extended service period.
Buses 907, 908, 909, 914, 922, 931, 950, 950A, 956 and 973 run three times more frequently than usual.
Buses 914A, 923, 941, 964, 979, 979A run twice more frequently than usual.
The service period is extended of buses 916, 934, 940, 941 and 972.
On the routes of buses 901, 918 and 960, higher-capacity articulated buses operate.
Please note that the usual connections between regular nightbuses are provided on New Year’s Eve, however connections are not provided for the extraordinary “higher-frequency” services on the night of 31 December.
Public transport on 1 January 2014: Sunday schedule
On 1 January 2014 (Wednesday) public holiday (Sunday) schedules apply on public transport services. Buses 64, 104, 123, 126, 162 and 236 serving big shopping centres do not run while buses 38, 92, 138, 140 and 218 do not serve their stops at the shopping centres since they will be closed.
Public transport on 2 and 3 January 2014: workday schedules during school holiday
On 2 and 3 January 2014 (Thursday and Friday) workday schedules during school holiday apply on public transport services.
Parking
Between 24 December 2013 (Tuesday) and 1 Januay 2014 (Wednesday) parking is free of charge in most parking areas except in the following: Castle and below the Citadella in the 1st district, Florian Shopping Centre in the 3rd district and on the north-side of Margitsziget in the 13th district. Furthermore, the rules above do not apply to P+R car parks, municipally-owned underground car parks.
The holiday and end-of-the-year parking rules for the parking areas below are:
Parking is free of charge between 24 December (Tuesday) and 1 January 2014 (Wednesday).
Regular fees apply on Margitsziget in the 13th district, protected and paying P+R car parks, (Hűvösvölgy terminus in the 2nd district; Újpest-Városkapu metro station in the 13th district; Kőbánya-Kispest metro station – 19th district and the Rákóczi tér underground car park in the 8th district)
