Budapest UNICEF global services centre expansion inaugurated
The expanded office complex of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) global services centre in Budapest was inaugurated on Friday.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, István Mikola, state secretary at the foreign ministry, said that Hungary’s contribution to the service centre’s expansion could help further improve UNICEF’s effectiveness.
The conditions provided by the Hungarian government will help UNICEF fulfil its global mission and activities aimed at representing the interests of children around the world, Mikola said.
Director of the UNICEF centre Mark Beatty said that the centre that opened in 2015 had helped cut UNICEF’s costs and contributed significantly to improving the organisation’s effectiveness.
