Budapest’s 1st new Arriva bus showcased on car-free weekend – photos

Budapest’s newest buses were showcased during the capital’s car-free weekend, the mayor’s office told MTI on Saturday, referencing a social media post by Mayor Gergely Karácsony.

“I am proud that, despite government austerity, the vehicle fleet has been renewed at such level in recent years that today there are no high-floor buses on the roads of the capital,” Karácsony said.

Currently, 30 electric vehicles are waiting to be prepared to be put into service. BKK has placed an order for a total of 70 new — 50 solo and 20 articulated — fully electric BYD buses equipped with modern assistance systems to be put into service in Budapest by 2027.

  1. The Left’s ideological zealotry really makes me laugh, as much as it makes me despair.

There is nothing “green” about these electric buses. They are actually worse for the environment than the modern fossil fuel-powered ones for too many reasons to count, including the “carbon footprint” involved in their manufacture, the rare-earth metals needed for their batteries, the fact the batteries are not recyclable as well as highly hazardous, their much higher weight (which causes far more toxic particles from tire abrasion to be released into the air for us to breathe), and the fact that charging them requires electricity that sure as heck isn’t generated from unicorn farts.

Oh, and I’m sure these loons ensured that the electric grid can handle the extra burden of charging these buses, right? RIGHT?

  2. Your compulsive, asinine commentary beneath any article, no matter how innocuous is becoming decidedly tedious. The world isn’t as keen to read your thoughts as you seem to believe.

I could address each point you’ve raised and prove that you’re incorrect but it’s pointless arguing with someone as heavily politicised as you are, as I and many others in the past have experienced first hand.
