SHO Beach, the Danube beach on the Kopaszi Dam, will open again this year, Property Market Kft., the owner of the beach area, told MTI. The beach, built with an investment of around HUF 300 million (EUR 756,600), welcomed 3,000 visitors last year, with ticket revenues of HUF 6 million (EUR 15,100), and expects more guests and revenues this year, as portfolio.hu reports.

The running costs are financed from entrance fees and gastronomy revenues. The managing director of Property Market Kft., Mihály Schrancz, said that

SHO Beach is the only sandy beach in Budapest where bathing is possible in the Danube, where the water quality is regularly monitored, and where lifeguards ensure the safety of bathers.

As borsonline reports, the good news for bathers is that ticket prices have risen only marginally this year. Depending on the time of day and time of year, the operator offers a discount of between 50 and 70% on admission fees for BudaPart residents and employees, and between 25 and 30% for residents of District XI.

On weekdays, the full-price adult ticket is HUF 2700 (EUR 6.81), but a number of discounts are available. Tickets include a voucher which you can pay with at the on-site catering outlets.

Since comfort and entertainment is a top priority for the management of the beach, they offer sun loungers, water toys and rides for rent, outdoor showers and a lush lawn, not to mention a variety of delicious snacks.

The beach can also be safe for families with smaller children, as it is located in the Lágymányos Gulf, so you do not have to expect huge waves and eddies.

In addition to swimming and sunbathing, the only beach on the Danube in Budapest offers an opportunity to try your SUP skills, and even try out the Schiller waterbike, which is only available in two places in the country, according to borsonline.hu. In addition, families can enjoy a range of waterfront activities, such as giant waterballs, teqball, badminton and a variety of rentable sports equipment.

Why does the beach have sort of an English name? Can someone clarify? I mean, there is no such word as SHO in the big huge Webster’s dictionary tht I have on my desk.
