Playing to packed houses and enthusiastic crowds, the 10th edition of the Indian Film Festival in Budapest successfully concluded its three-day run from 27 February to 1 March 2026. Hosted by the Embassy of India at the iconic Metropolis Hall of Puskin Cinema, the festival drew audiences from across Hungary, reaffirming a deep and growing appreciation for Indian cinema.
The festival was inaugurated by Mr. Gábor Csaba, Deputy State Secretary for Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Culture and Innovation, Hungary, as the Chief Guest. His presence underscored the strong cultural cooperation between India and Hungary and reflected a shared commitment to promoting artistic exchange.

Welcoming Mr. Csaba, and the attending film personalities, Hungarian guests, and the local community, H.E. Mr. Anshuman Gaur, Ambassador of India to Hungary, highlighted the power of cinema to transcend geographical and linguistic borders. Ambassador Gaur noted that the festival has grown into a cornerstone cultural platform, strengthening people-to-people connections and celebrating the enduring friendship between the two nations.

Adding glamour and depth to the celebrations, several distinguished Indian and Hungarian film personalities attended the event. Their presence offered audiences a unique opportunity for cultural interaction and highlighted the collaborative spirit shared by the film communities of both countries.



This milestone 10th edition brought a vibrant, critically acclaimed selection of contemporary Indian cinema to Budapest. From epic storytelling and inspiring real-life journeys to powerful historical and social dramas, the lineup offered an immersive experience into India’s cultural diversity.

The festival opened on 27 February with the global blockbuster RRR, setting an energetic tone with a sold-out screening. The momentum continued over the weekend with full houses and lively audience engagement for a diverse array of films, including 12th Fail, Chhaava, The Kashmir Files, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, Hellaro, and Raksha Bandhan. All screenings featured Hungarian subtitles, ensuring that a broad cross-section of film enthusiasts could connect meaningfully with the narratives.

Marking the festival’s successful conclusion, Ambassador Gaur expressed his deep appreciation for the overwhelming public response. He thanked the Chief Guest, participating artists, the management of Puskin Cinema for their seamless support, and the enthusiastic audience for making the event a resounding success.
