2025 “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” award ceremony held in Budapest – photos

The Chinese Embassy in Hungary hosted the 2025 “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” Award Ceremony and Embassy Open Day on October 18.

Chinese Ambassador Gong Tao and Mr. Richárd Bodrogi, Secretary-General of the Tempus Public Foundation, attended the event and delivered speeches. Around 200 guests participated, including scholarship recipients, representatives from Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school and the Confucius Institutes, Chinese language teachers, Chinese enterprises, Chinese students studying in Hungary, and Hungarian learners of Chinese, along with embassy diplomats.

Promoting friendship through language and culture

In his speech, Ambassador Gong Tao noted that the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” has inspired Hungarian students’ enthusiasm for learning the Chinese language and understanding Chinese culture. He expressed his hope that the scholarship recipients would become envoys of friendship and cooperation between China and Hungary.

He emphasized that China-Hungary relations are now at their best in history, and as practical cooperation between the two countries continues to deepen, there is a growing need for more professionals who are proficient in both languages and familiar with each other’s culture. Ambassador Gong encouraged the students to seize opportunities to study in China, gain a deeper understanding of Chinese society, and become bridges for future China-Hungary collaboration.

Deepening educational exchange and mutual understanding

Mr. Richárd Bodrogi spoke highly of the fruitful achievements in educational cooperation between the two countries. He said the Tempus Foundation would continue its efforts to strengthen mutual student exchanges between China and Hungary, cultivating talent to support bilateral cooperation and people-to-people friendship.
