Chris Hemsworth made a surprise appearance at Madame Tussauds Budapest’s Birthday Party

The Australian superstar’s figure will remain on display until the beginning of June. The number of figures at the attraction has increased from 51 to 60, and over the years there have been marriage proposals and even the unveiling of a Munkácsy painting.
Chris Hemsworth in Budapest
Chris Hemsworth made a surprise appearance at Madame Tussauds Budapest’s birthday celebration — his wax figure will welcome fans until the beginning of June on Dorottya Street. During nearly 730 days of operation, the attraction has seen everything from marriage proposals to visits by countless icons, from Ágnes Keleti and Katinka Hosszú to Thibaut Courtois. Even Mihály Munkácsy “reunited” with one of his long-lost paintings here.

Madame Tussauds Budapest held its grand opening on May 23, 2023, becoming the first franchise attraction in the 250-year history of the international brand. May 23 is also a memorable date for Chris Hemsworth: last year, he received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on this day.

For its second birthday, Madame Tussauds Budapest is surprising guests with the arrival of Chris Hemsworth’s figure. The wax figure already made an appearance at a press reception and will remain in place until the beginning of June to greet fans.
Sexiest Man Alive
At 41, Chris Hemsworth is officially both successful and handsome — People magazine named him the “Sexiest Man Alive,” and Forbes included him on its list of the world’s highest-paid actors three times. He rose to fame with the series Home and Away in 2004, followed by roles in Star Trek, A Perfect Getaway, Men in Black, and Ghostbusters.

Hemsworth became a true global star as a central figure in the Marvel universe, most famously as Thor. Off-screen, he leads a busy life as a father of three and husband to the beautiful — and partly Hungarian — Elsa Pataky. The Spanish actress and model uses the Pataky surname in honor of her Hungarian maternal grandmother. Though Elsa is Spanish and Chris lived in Los Angeles for many years, the family now resides in Australia.
The couple even has matching tattoos, and Chris bears the initials of their children on his forearm. Their bond is so strong that not even Natalie Portman could outshine it — in Thor: The Dark World, audiences may have thought Chris kissed Natalie, but in fact, it was his wife Elsa in that scene.

Madame Tussauds Budapest events
Over the past two years, Madame Tussauds Budapest has hosted an incredible number of events. Katinka Hosszú unveiled her own figure, while the families of Ferenc Puskás and László Papp are frequent visitors. Olympic champion Ágnes Keleti visited to see her old colleague Papp’s wax figure last year. Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid legend, even held his bachelor party in the museum.
The number of “residents” at Madame Tussauds Budapest continues to grow. The attraction opened with 51 wax figures and now features nearly 60. Zendaya’s figure was unveiled by actress Franciska Törőcsik, while Harry Styles joined the lineup of fellow musicians. You can now also see Steve Jobs, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Jackson, and E.T. in the downtown attraction.
There have been plenty of special moments in the past two years — for example, an Italian man proposed to his girlfriend in front of the Pope’s figure, and Mihály Munkácsy’s wax likeness was reunited with a long-lost portrait of the artist.
During the birthday weekend, May 24–25, in addition to Hemsworth’s arrival from Vienna, visitors to Madame Tussauds Budapest can expect a host of surprises, interactive experiences, attractions, and special discounts.
