Congratulations! Budapest’s Puskás Aréna became the Stadium Of The Year 2019!
The stadium got 14,955 votes out of 30,632 from 107 countries. Opposition parties slammed Budapest’s Puskás Aréna a lot of times before, saying that its construction and operation are costly.
The arena was inaugurated in 2019 November, and yesterday it won the Stadium of the Year 2020 award – szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu reported. Stadiumdb.com organised the contest, a website writing about football stadiums and
voters could choose the five best out of 19 arenas of 19 countries.
Budapest’s Puskás got almost half of the 30,632 votes with 5 but 15 thousand.

Votes came from all parts of the world, including Indonesia, Argentina, Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Philippines. Those who took part in the process could give five stars for the best and one star for the fifth stadium. The results were based on their votes and the opinion of experts.
Furthermore, only those arenas were on the list that were inaugurated in 2019, and their capacity is at least 10 thousand. Therefore, not only the Puskás Arena but also the MOL Arena in Dunaszerdahely in Slovakia took part in the contest. People could vote until March 15 on the website. They also told that the experts they asked to rank the stadiums as a professional jury chose the DVTK arena the most beautiful stadium of 2019.
The award-winning Puskás Aréna will be one of the venues of the EURO 2020 but only next year because the football contest was delayed due to the coronavirus epidemic. The tournament will be organised between June 11 and July 11, and there will be three group stage matches and one-eighth final in the stadium. Moreover, it is going to host the 2022 Europe League final, as well.
