Coronavirus in Hungary: nine fatalities, 132 new infections

Nine patients, generally elderly with co-morbidities, died over the weekend, while 132 new infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday.

So far 5,468,205 people have received a first jab, while 4,842,148 have been fully vaccinated.

The number of active infections stands at 39,662, while hospitals are treating 157 Covid patients, 24 of whom need respiratory assistance.

There 2,614 are people in official quarantine, while 6,116,542 tests have been officially carried out.

Since the first outbreak, 808,042 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 29,989.

Fully 738,391 people have made a recovery.

So far, most infections have been registered in Budapest and Pest County, followed by the counties of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Győr-Moson-Sopron and Hajdú-Bihar.

More and more people are being vaccinated against the coronavirus in Hungary. Summer is here, restaurants, spas, beaches, and entertainment venues are open. As a result, tourism restarted. The situation is similar to last year, except this year, there is already a vaccine to protect us. Is that enough to avoid a carefree summer being accompanied by another wave in the fall?
