Cup or cone? Here is where you can get the best ice cream in Budapest
Travelling to Italy might be difficult at the moment, but the good news is that even if we stay in Hungary, we no longer have to settle for the conventional chocolate-vanilla-punch trio. With its large selection of premium ice creams, Budapest has something to offer for everyone.
In recent years, some really remarkable confectioners appeared on the Hungarian ice cream scene. Gastronomy website Sóbors has now turned their attention to the best ice cream shops in Budapest — these confectioneries do not only make creamy ice creams of the highest quality, but they also offer something extra to make the gelato experience really memorable.
Cioccolatte
The brainchild of an Italian-Hungarian couple, Cioccolatte always attracts large crowds in Budapest’s District 13. Not only do they make ice cream with real ingredients (expect the regular amount of caffeine in their espresso ice cream), but they regularly vary their offer as part of The sweet escape promotion. Ice cream is essentially Italian, but Cioccolatte will take you to faraway places like Mexico or Thailand.
Address: Budapest, Pozsonyi út 7, 1137.
Erdős és Fiai Cukrászda
This ice cream shop at Kelenföld train station might not have a central location, but news (and good quality) travel fast: queues are always long to try the unique flavours of Erdős és Fiai, which include carrot cake, Oreo, cucumber lemonade, and cottage cheese pie. And if you do not want to leave your home, they will deliver it right to your door.
Address: Budapest, Etele tér 3, 1115.
Gelateria Vittorio
Vittorio’s place near Nyugati represents quite a contrast to the rich spectrum of Cioccolatte: flavours here include only the most basic types (one of them being punch to follow the Hungarian tradition), but the quality and creaminess are definitely proof that these ice creams are handmade by a real Italian. In addition, Gelateria Vittorio is also a shop where you can buy other Italian products, such as pasta and cheese of premium quality.
Address: Budapest, Visegrádi u. 6, 1132.
Kell fagylalt?
This ice cream shop is the little sister of the owners’ first business at Lake Balaton. The most popular flavours of chocolate, pistachio, and amarena are always on offer, but as experimenting never stops here, a visit is also worth for those with a more exotic taste. The place is very close to Déli train station and the popular Városmajor park, ideal for a walk with a cone in your hand.
Address: Budapest, Maros utca 17, 1122.
Minus11
Minus11 might only have a limited number of flavours on offer, but this will not necessarily make the choice easier. From Japanese sudachi lime, Caribbean fruits, and chocolate from Papua New Guinea, this place will bring you flavours from all parts of the world — at minus 11 °C degrees, which is the best serving temperature for the cold dessert. Its location in Hűvösvölgy makes it an ideal stop after a hike in the nearby hills.
Address: Budapest, Máriaremetei út 70b, 1028.
Málna The Pastry Shop
This place is a must for the fans of fruity flavours: ice creams here have a fruit content of 40%, but other flavours (all made with egg and cream) will not cause disappointment, either. In addition, the shop also has a nice selection of delicious confectionery items, which are a true delight to the eye — but not only.
Address: Budapest, Bécsi út 57-61, 1037.

It would be helpful if you published the addresses of these venues along with the advertorial. The names published in red link to Facebook (or Facecrook as I call it). Believe it iot not, there are many people like me who abhor social media in general but absolutely refuse to have anything to do with the likes of Facebook or Twitter.
Thank you for the feedback, we’ve updated the post with the addresses.
