Dallas’s Bobby Ewing shooting in Hungary, discovering Budapest with Linda Purl

Patrick Duffy was astonished at how much Hungarians like him and remember the Dallas series. He is currently in Hungary, shooting a comedy directed by Hungarian producer Csaba Vékes. Duffy spends his free time strolling around Budapest with his actress girlfriend, Linda Purl. The couple enjoys discovering the many beauties of the Hungarian capital. The Hollywood veteran talked about his experiences in Budapest, J. R. Ewing and the Dallas series in an interview.
Duffy said he regularly gets calls for shootings in Canada and New York. Therefore, the invitation from Hungary was quite a surprise for him. He instantly “fell in love” with the script, so there was no hesitation: he jumped on a plane and flew to Hungary, Blikk wrote. Duffy said he had never been to any of the countries of the former Eastern Block before.
The film revolves around Hungarians’ beloved game, button soccer, which Duffy had never heard of before the shooting. That was another factor that sparked his curiosity. He added the characters of the movie were ordinary people, just like in a Hallmark movie. Although a bit crazier.

Duffy likes Hungarian dishes
The actor said he was astonished at how famous Dallas was in Hungary and what it meant for the former Eastern Block audience. It opened another world for them, which the US producers never even thought of when creating the show. But Duffy is very grateful for the experience.
Bobby Ewing and J. R. Ewing (in the Hungarian translation it is Jockey Ewing):
Duffy said he arrived in Budapest a few days ago, and he is about to embark on a sightseeing car tour with Ms Purl. They have already gone to a classical music concert at the Mathias Church in Buda Castle. He described it as a fantastic experience.
The actor said he was very fond of Hungarian dishes. He has gained 1.5 kilograms since his arrival, as they keep checking out different restaurants every day. Linda spends her days in the Opera House while his partner is on the set. They will stay in Budapest for a couple more days after the work is done to discover Budapest. He said if Budapest happened to be in the USA, it would be brimming with skyscrapers, and nobody could see the Danube. However, it would be a shame as the river is stunning and so are the buildings.
The new movie, Lepattanó will be a romantic comedy starring Péter Scherer. It was Csaba Vékes who came up with the idea to reach out to Patrick Duffy with an offer. The US actor will play a Hungarian billionaire patron who gained his wealth abroad. The producer, Péter Roskó, wrote a long letter to Duffy explaining how much Hungarians adore him and his former Dallas character. Since Duffy liked the screenplay and did not have other projects lined up due to the Hollywood strike, he said yes to the invitation to Budapest.
