Easy cash access for Hungarian users: Revolut and Wise raise free cash withdrawal limits!

Hungarian customers using digital banking services could soon enjoy significantly easier access to their cash. Following a recent legal change that doubled the amount of money people can withdraw free of charge from domestic ATMs, both Revolut and Wise have moved quickly to raise their own fee-free withdrawal limits.
As we reported, from February, the statutory monthly free ATM withdrawal cap in Hungary increased from HUF 150,000 to HUF 300,000. Although fintech providers are not legally required to follow the rule, both companies voluntarily adjusted their terms, aiming to intensify competition with traditional banks and benefit customers.
Bigger free limits across Revolut plans
According to updates on Revolut’s website, the free monthly cash withdrawal allowance has risen sharply across several subscription tiers.
The Standard plan’s limit has doubled from HUF 75,000 to HUF 150,000. Plus customers see an even larger increase, from HUF 75,000 to HUF 300,000, while Premium users now also receive HUF 300,000 instead of HUF 150,000.
Metal remains unchanged at HUF 300,000, and the top-tier Ultra plan continues to offer up to HUF 750,000 fee-free!

Revolut has also slightly raised weekday foreign-exchange limits. Standard customers can now exchange up to HUF 380,000 monthly without fees, up from HUF 350,000, while Plus users’ cap grows to HUF 1.14 million. Premium, Metal and Ultra plans still offer unlimited weekday exchanges.
However, some of the new figures have not yet fully appeared in the app, meaning users may need to wait until the changes are officially activated in their accounts.
Wise matches the Hungarian cap
Wise has gone even further for Hungarian cardholders. It has increased its monthly free withdrawal allowance to HUF 300,000, up from HUF 150,000, aligning directly with the new domestic legal threshold.
Importantly, this benefit applies not only in Hungary and not only in forints.
Customers can withdraw the same amount abroad or in foreign currencies without extra charges, within two transactions per month.
Wise sets limits country by country, so this upgrade is a special advantage for Hungarian users.
Traditional banks under pressure
The moves come as competition in Hungary’s banking sector is getting more serious. Late last year, the Hungarian National Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank) approved Revolut’s establishment of a local branch, paving the way for Hungarian bank account numbers and deeper integration into the domestic market.
This development has already pushed conventional banks to introduce cheaper account packages, zero-fee maintenance options and discounted transfers.
Watch out for ATM operator fees
Customers should still be cautious: even if Revolut or Wise offer fee-free withdrawals, ATM operators may add their own charges, Revinfo warns.
In Hungary, machines operated by OTP Bank and Erste Bank often apply fees to foreign-issued cards, including fintech cards. Other banks’ ATMs are typically free.
Combining cards could mean more free cash
For savvy users, combining services may pay off. A Revolut Standard account together with Wise could allow up to HUF 450,000 per month in fee-free withdrawals, and even more if paired with a traditional Hungarian bank account.
