EC launches communication campaign hailing Hungary’s 20 years in EU
The European Commission is launching a communication campaign called Happy 20th, Hungary, on the 20th anniversary of the country’s accession to the European Union, the EC’s Hungarian representation said on Monday.
The organisers said the campaign would focus on individual stories to show the positive impact of the membership. It will be broadcast on social media, ad hoardings, and a website. TV ads will be delayed in view of the flood emergency, they added.
They said the Hungarian representation of the EC is also organising open-air photo exhibitions at 3 venues in Budapest and 19 outside the capital, showing a successful EU-funded development from each county.
In 2004, Hungary had become the member of a supportive community, one that supported its efforts against the floods with the Copernicus satellite system and funding, the statement said. They added that the EU was ready to provide further support.

Did they tell Hungary when it joined that twenty years later they’d be fining us hundreds of millions of dollars for refusing to accept into the country hundreds of thousands of violent, parasitic, culturally-incompatible young men who have no legal business being here?
I don’t recall that part.
Now they’re using our money to tell us how great they are. CCCP all over again.
Wonder if there will be a Politician Friends and Toadies countercampaign? Ironically, the EU will in all probability be lining theit pockets in the process of telling the European story to the Hungarian public (no – a lot of stuff was not our Politicians, it was the EU).
Why would P.M. Orban waste his time talking to the incompetent nincompoop Ursula. Ursula betrayed and will betray the country at the first opportunity. Premier Putin is more reliable than the whole of Europe, the only exception is Slovakia.
Time for Hungary to escape Brussels’ dictatorship. The last 20 years were hell.
@michaelsteiner – “our money” … We are a TAKER. Ever since we joined. Every single year.
