Scandalous: Hungarian embassy staff dismissed following leaked video of Bolsonaro’s hideaway
The diplomatic scandal concerning former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonar continues. He spent two nights at the Hungarian Embassy in Brasília, the country’s capital, amidst mounting concerns about potential arrests, given ongoing criminal probes implicating his close associates and himself. Two employees were promptly dismissed by the Hungarian embassy without determining the identity of the perpetrator.
Oddly, the Hungarian media remained oblivious to the latest developments, with CNN Brasil breaking the story. As per their report, shared by the Hungarian outlet 444.hu, the Hungarian Embassy in Brasília terminated two staff members in connection with the Bolsonaro leak.
CNN Brasil noted the embassy’s failure to provide an explanation or conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter. The dismissed employees had access to the monitors displaying the incriminating videos.
Hungarian embassy fired every suspect without identifying the actual perpetrator
Following the outbreak of the scandal, the embassy initiated an internal probe to find out how the leaked footage reached the press. Investigations pointed towards Brazilian employees. Despite multiple interview requests, CNN Brazil received no response from the Hungarian Embassy or Hungarian Ambassador Miklós Halmai.
Bolsonaro, in a statement to the Brazilian Metropoles following the leaked videos, admitted:
“I won’t deny that I’ve been to the embassy… I won’t tell you where else I’ve been. I am friends with some heads of state who are concerned about me. I talk to them about matters of interest to our country. Period. The rest is speculation.”
Bolsonaro’s stint at the Hungarian Embassy in Brasília ensued after Brazilian authorities confiscated his passport and detained two former aides on allegations of plotting a coup following Bolsonaro’s electoral defeat. Surveillance footage from CCTV cameras uncovered his stay, which you can watch below:
Interestingly, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed solidarity by sharing a supportive tweet featuring himself and Bolsonaro greeting each other in Brazil:
An honest patriot. Keep on fighting, Mr. President! @jairbolsonaro pic.twitter.com/5mmmIAGGC3
— Orbán Viktor (@PM_ViktorOrban) February 8, 2024
This episode isn’t the first instance of Bolsonaro’s apparent escape from Brazil; following his electoral defeat, he fled to Florida for three months.
Jair Bolsonaro faces an array of accusations, including attempts to undermine the rule of law, involvement in political violence and conspiracies against the government. Additionally, he has been implicated in trafficking national monuments abroad and falsifying vaccine data.

Secret sleepovers! Our Politicians and “diplomacy” for you.

All round, stand-up guy, Mr. Bolsonaro! Perfect company.
The FRIENDSHIPS of Victor Mihaly. Orban.
Orban , like a potter moulds, designs FRIENDSHIPS, that are NOT through country’s of DEMOCRACY, in fact they are detested – his FRIENDSHIPS.
Orban continues in his advocacy, his Relationships / Friendships – to destruct / soil, the IMAGE of Hungary.
Victor Mihaly. Orban’s – pursuit, to see the DISTALLATION of Democracy in Hungary, moving to alignment of those of his FRIENDSHIPS – Hideous.
Bolsinaro is getting the Trump treatment from the communists in power in Brazil…..lots of accusations and no evidence.
There is a global communist takeover happening right now in western nations and very few can see it.
Who knows. In the future some country’s embassy in Budapest may be sought by Orban for a “sleepover” when he is desperate to evade the long arm of the law when his time runs out.
Ah. A Global Communist Takeover. Chinese financing? Can always classify details of arrangements, as our Politicians do:

Re Mr. Trump – let´s see how matters progress through the courts. Re defamation, re falsification of business records, re paying off porn stars, re squirreling away top secret documents, re election interference … Lots of people already went to jail.
Somehow, it is just the guy who can afford a 1 mio USD daily legal bill who appears to be deferring justice.
Brazil, presently a banana republic, will persecute anyone to satisfy their communist backers. All those that voted communist should now stay in Brazil instead of fleeing to the US.
Mr Maria von theresa, the nazi sympathizer, is back again showing her faces.
calling Brazil a republic of bananas, a very racist term used for the country.
your comment is quite funny because Bolsonaro IS a brazilian citizen and he’s trying to escape being persecuted. and replying to the first comment, there are solid evidences about Bolsonaro’s misconducts, and differently than the Fidesz-ruled Hungary, federal police in Brazil is INDEPENDENT, so there’s very little chances of the proofs being fake.
why is it being revealed just now the criminal offences Bolsonaro did? simply put, because in Brazil there’s a law that forbids any criminal investigations to happen, which have the president as the main suspect, while the president is still in office. Bolsonaro lost his protected status and now everyone can see the kind of person he is.
call Brazil what you want, be racist like a “true Hungarian” in the words of the supreme fuhrer Viktor Orban, but the brazilian justice and congress is FAR from being owned by the president and its close friends and family. our justice system, at least, convicts people from both sides, it tries to be impartial. unfortunately the same cannot be said about Hungary where anything is allowed (even pedophilia) if you’re a Fidesz partner, and everything is forbidden if you don’t like Fidesz.
for the DNH staff, I’d urge you to ban the nazi mariavontheresa from the website and disclose the IP addresses of it to the authorities. they are publicly advocatting for nazism and being openly racist and these are criminal offenses.
Current Brazilian president ”Lula” seems like a great choice – no wonder he was democratically re-elected by the citizens of Brazil.
“During his two terms in office, he undertook reforms which eventually led to growth in GDP, reduction in public debt and inflation, and helping 20 million Brazilians escape poverty. “ Source: Wikipedia
Right wing extremist like Jair, who lost elections and was planning a military coup to replace the democratically elected president, should have no place hiding in foreign embassies. They need to accept democracy and stop planning of a violent coup.
