EP Elections – Five Parties, Party Alliances Certain To Run So Far, Says Election Office
Budapest, April 19 (MTI) – A total of five Hungarian parties and party alliances are certain to run so far at the EP elections, the National Election Office said today.
Deputy head of the election office Eva Bozsoki said the election lists of radical nationalist Jobbik and opposition E-PM and DK were registered on Saturday. The election lists of the co-ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrats and the opposition Socialists were registered in Friday.
Parties that wish to run in the European parliamentary elections have until 4pm on April 22 to collect 20,000 signatures in support of their list of candidates and submit it to the office.
Each party and party alliance submitting a list is eligible to delegate a representative to the National Election Committee, so the 26-member body (including five ethnic minority delegates) could be expanded as early as next week.
The EP elections will be held in Hungary on May 25.
