Hungarian military transport jet roars into Danish skies with 65-strong elite Hungarian team aboard

A rescue team of 65 Hungarian rescuers blasted off for Denmark aboard a spanking-new Brazilian-built Embraer KC-390 Millennium multi-role military transport jet – the first outing for Hungary’s latest high-tech acquisition.

Hungarian military transport jet headed to Denmark
They’re heading straight into a simulated catastrophe on Jutland, Denmark’s windswept southern peninsula. According to the Disaster Management Authority, members of Hungary’s elite HUNOR rescue unit touched down in Billund yesterday for a three-day EU-MODEX exercise. The squad boasts professional firefighters, eight logistics experts, four K9 dog handlers, a six-strong medical team from the National Ambulance Service, a structural engineer, and four sniffer dogs. Leading the charge is Captain Zsolt Kopasz, a battle-hardened firefighter.

They hauled 13 tonnes of gear to Billund before pushing on to Tinglev, near the German border, for a gruelling 48-hour showdown with disaster.

Drill for apocalyptic scenario
Picture this: a monstrous 7.2-magnitude earthquake has ravaged Jutland, shredding critical infrastructure and leaving buildings in ruins. “Four towns bore the brunt – Tønder, Tinglev, Kliplev, and Aabenraa, worst of all,” the authority details in its nightmare scenario. Airports are grounded, key roads blocked, and Aabenraa’s vital port battered into paralysis, halting all sea traffic.
