Hungarian winery triumphs: wins gold at a world-renowned wine competition

The Patricius Wine House has already been awarded for several of its outstanding wines in a number of prestigious competitions, and this year it has also received an outstanding recognition at the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux, one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world since 1976.

Patricius Borház/Wine House

Founded more than 20 years ago in Bodrogkisfalud, the Patricius Borház (Wine House) is one of the leading wineries in the historic Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the years, it has received several awards, winning the Winery of the Year Award in 2016, and its Tokaj specialities have also received numerous professional awards in recent years. The 2017 six-puttonyos aszú was awarded a platinum medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2021 in London, the largest and one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world.

In 2023, it was announced that the BDPST Group, majority-owned by István Tiborcz, Viktor Orbán’s son-in-law, expanded its investment portfolio with Patricius Borház Zrt. As an equity investor, BDPST Group already has a strong presence in the World Heritage-listed region, operating the five-star Andrássy Kúria & Spa and its restaurant Bobajka, specialising in local and regional cuisine, in the Tokaj wine region.
