Traffic in Budapest city centre to change due to football match this weekend

On Sunday at 3 PM, the Hungary vs. Ireland World Cup qualifying football match will take place at the Puskás Arena. From midday onwards, significant traffic changes and road closures will be in effect around the stadium, warns the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) in a statement released to the press on Friday.
Traffic in Budapest city centre to change: using public transport recommended
Parking options near the arena are limited, so BKK strongly encourages fans to use public transport. They recommend frequent trams and metro lines—specifically Metro Lines 2 and 4, and Tram 1—as well as the MOL Bubi bike-sharing service for a smooth journey.
Entry to the stadium will be available from Dózsa György Road and Stefánia Road. The venue is easily accessible on foot, not only from the Puskás Ferenc Stadion metro station but also from Keleti Railway Station within a similar walking time via Verseny Street.

Due to constrained parking, supporters arriving from the city centre are advised to take Metro Lines 2 or 4, disembarking at Keleti Station and then walking along Verseny Street and Dózsa György Road. Those travelling from Örs vezér tere should use Metro Line 2, exiting at Puskás Ferenc Stadion station and walking along Kerepesi Road and Dózsa György Road.
Passengers on Tram 1 can reach the Stefánia Road gates (gates IX, X, XIII) by walking from the Egressy Road/Hungária Boulevard stop via Egressy Road. Alternatively, the Dózsa György Road gates (gates III, VI) can be approached on foot from the Puskás Ferenc Stadion stop along Kerepesi Road and Dózsa György Road.
Buses running along Thököly Road will serve the Dózsa György Road gates (III, VI) at the Reiner Frigyes Park stop; from there, it’s a short walk via Dózsa György Road. For the Stefánia Road gates (IX, X, XIII), passengers should alight at Stefánia Road/Thököly Road and walk along Stefánia Road.
