Wizz Air launches record number of flights from Budapest this winter: new destinations and upgraded services!

Hungary-based airline Wizz Air is setting a new record this winter season. During the 2025–26 winter period, the carrier will operate more flights from Budapest than ever before. Compared to last year, Wizz Air is increasing its capacity by 8%, offering a total of 3.2 million seats on flights departing from the Hungarian capital.

Until the end of March, more than 6,800 flights will operate from Budapest to 59 destinations. The network is expanding with nine new routes, including Wrocław, Gdańsk, Bilbao, Tallinn, Vilnius, Turin, and Venice. From March, flights to Skopje and Billund will also resume.

21 years as a key player in the Hungarian market

Since launching operations from Budapest in the summer of 2004, Wizz Air has become one of the most important airlines at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. The company says the Hungarian market remains a key part of its strategy, with the goal of making air travel accessible to even more people.

In 2024, Wizz Air carried 62.8 million passengers, generating EUR 5.3 billion in revenue. However, net profit fell from EUR 365.9 million to EUR 213.9 million compared to the previous year.

A new era in passenger experience

Earlier this year, the airline introduced its Customer First Compass programme, aimed at improving passenger satisfaction. Early results are already visible, with fewer cancellations and delays and more accurate passenger communication.

Wizz Air has also implemented major improvements to customer service. Through the new My Journey feature, passengers can manage rebookings, book accommodation, or receive airport meal vouchers in case of delays, all via the app or website. The airline’s AI-powered chatbot, Amelia, now resolves 86% of customer queries efficiently, significantly easing pressure on call centres.
