Fidesz: Budapest mayor abandoned the capital and neglected his duties
Budapest’s mayor has neglected his duties in the capital in preference for the campaign trail, Zsolt Lang, who heads the Fidesz-KDNP group in the city’s assembly, said in an interview to the daily Magyar Nemzet.
This neglect is evident on the streets of Budapest, with traffic in a state of chaos and public spaces full of rubbish, he told the paper’s Saturday edition.
Lang accused Karácsony of abusing his emergency powers during the period of coronavirus-related restrictions.
A day before the emergency powers expired, the assembly passed a number of important decisions, such as the 7-billion-forint purchase of used trams from Frankfurt that lack air conditioning, he said.
Lang said Karácsony, who is campaigning to become the opposition alliance’s joint prime ministerial candidate ahead of the 2022 general election, was only interested in his own political ambitions. The Fidesz politician said the mayor should instead be dealing with traffic jams and the maintenance of public spaces.
He said Fidesz wanted to engage in professional discussions, but the left wing was too busy with their own political fights. “They’re cynical and arrogant,” he added.
Lang also made reference to “suspicious public procurements” such as a tender for buses and Danube river boats.
He also mentioned the renovation of Chain Bridge which, he said, was of reduced scope compared with the original plans under Karácsony’s Fidesz predecessor yet would cost 5 billion forints (EUR 14.4m) more.
Also, the reconstruction of Blaha Lujza Square is costing 1.1 billion forints more than the original plans and has produced traffic chaos, he said.

Socialism, whether in the EU or North America is detrimental. The major wants power, not for the benefit of the people but for his own glorification. The citizens of Budapest have already started coping with neglect. No socialist should ever be elected in Hungary.
Socialism in the EU brought crime, poverty and polarization of populations.
I thought it was just me, but it’s the little things that make the difference. Suddenly tons of bright green plastic trash containers poorly installed in many cases
Poorly installed. Anyone who understands the beauty of the city knows they are a eyesore. I even if they were a dark grey plastic- they might be more exceptable and they don’t need some little graphic to explain what they are. Reproductions of the old round ones compliment any area of the city. This main sound like a small thing, but I could name many more.
It’s the little things that make a difference. The dark grey metal ones are almost as bad except for different reasons.
I agree with Maria, but I would expand it to socialists should not be elected anywhere. Socialism is the road to communism, it creates people who are dependent on the government to take care of them rather than self-sufficient adults.
‘Socialism in the EU brought crime” ha ha, now this is a smartly constructed group of words(ironic)
First, Socialisms in EU ? who , where , what are you talking about !!!
EU means European Union and it’s not whole European continent.
Which country in EU has socialism ? please give examples, enlighten us.
If you mean Eastern Europe from the communist bloc , sure they where socialists, but that was not EU.
Second, I lived in a communist\socialist country, crime rate was very low in the ex- socialist\communist Eastern European countries.
Madam Maria , you have no idea what you are talking about , do some research before you start talking total nonsense.
Socialism is present in Germany, France, Italy and even in GB to a small extent.
Out of control immigration policies as a result of Socialist policies brought increased crime rate to EU contries like Sweden, Germany France and others, no question about it. Easy to confirm! Sure, once a Socialists assume total control over the population, such as Communism crime will go down, but I wouldn’t wan to live under a totalitarian rule ever again. Mr. Someguy may enjoy, or maybe it will make him to to wake up… maybe not…
Right Maria, as I thought , just baloney.
“To a small extent” what does that even mean, is there a Socialist country in EU or not ?
Too a small extent we can also consider natzi, double rainbow free inhibiters and unicorn sun worshipers.
Just total nonsense
