Fidesz: Tarlos Likely To Be Re-nominated As Budapest Mayor
Budapest, June 2 (MTI) – It is highly likely that Istvan Tarlos, the incumbent mayor of Budapest, will be the Fidesz party’s nominee in the local elections to lead the city, Lajos Kosa, the party’s deputy leader and party manager, to public radio today.
Kosa told Kossuth Radio that the rules for electing the mayor of the capital had not changed. Therefore it was logical that the opposition parties would “tend towards a joint ticket” since it was “completely clear that if opposition cooperation doesn’t work then they won’t be able to squeeze Istvan Tarlos either.”
“Besides, I think he would win the election,” because he is doing an especially good job, Kosa added.
