First candidate for Hungarian President announced
Following the resignation of Katalin Novák, radical opposition party Mi Hazánk (Our Homeland) has announced its nominee for the next Hungarian President. Meanwhile, Katalin Novák has officially submitted her resignation.
The first candidate
“Mi Hazánk nominates Dr Magdolna Csath, professor, economist and university professor, as the new President of the Republic. Magdolna Csath would be a president of Hungary who is above parties and has already proven her worth through her career, and we, therefore, hope that other parties will support her candidacy”, the Mi Hazánk Movement announced.
Magdolna Csath is a Szent-Györgyi Prize-winning economist. Csath was a candidate for the Hungarian Justice and Life Party (MIÉP) in the 2002 parliamentary elections, Index reports.
Katalin Novák resigned from the office of President of the Republic on Saturday, as we reported HERE. Her successor will be elected by the National Assembly. The Mi Hazánk Movement and other opposition parties are also proposing direct elections for the head of state.
Official resignation posted
The declaration in which Katalin Novák officially resigns from her post as President of the Republic has been published on the Parliament’s website. From now on, it is up to Parliament to decide on the fate of the President of the Republic, Index writes.
I hereby inform the Honourable Parliament that I resign from my mandate as President of the Republic pursuant to Article 2 of Act CX of 2011 on the Legal Status and Remuneration of the President of the Republic,
Katalin Novák wrote in the statement, which was received by Parliament today, on 12 February.
Although the President of the Republic resigned orally, she had to do so in writing in order to follow the formal procedure. Hungarian legislation sets several conditions:
- A declaration of acceptance by Parliament is also required for the resignation to be valid.
- Parliament may ask the President of the Republic to reconsider her decision within fifteen days.
- If the President of the Republic maintains her decision by written declaration, Parliament may no longer refuse to take note of the resignation.
Katalin Novák will remain President of the Republic, at least formally, until the end of February.

Orban needs to resign. He is responsible for everything that took place. He gives the list of people to pardon to the president. We need a new candidate for PM.
Anonymous – the MOUNTING evidence just PILING up on the name Victor Orban – that the longer he is ALLOWED to be the Prime Minister of Hungary, the worsening, to millions of Hungarians, the quality of life, they live will WORSEN.
Hungary, our proud name has been, in the Global World, country’s that are Governed under DEMOCRACY just wrongfully DECIMATED by Victor Orban.
Orban can’t stabilize nor REVERSE the damage of his creation – the Hungary of to-day, a country that like HIM is under gargantuan PRESSURIZATION.
SOLIDARITY of the People.
What do we Want ?
Do we continue to behave and act like “Lemmings” going along with following the “Pied Piper” and his “hanger-on’s” being taken into a deeper abyss like trend we are currently in ?
Economically & Financially we are STUFFED.
The nadir of the vile place Victor Orban and his Government have delivered us to at this point in time, objection(s) must build from Hungarians firstly in an ORDERLY manner that represents SOLIDARITY – a togetherness to put an end to this DESTRUCTION of Hungary taking place being led by Victor Orban.
“Don’t Raise our Voices – but STRENGTHEN them.”
This quote its meaning is in there for Hungarians to get there heads around – get there HANDS Dirty, if they want to SAVE Hungary.
“Its not the function of a Government in Power that Rules & Governs under Democracy, – to keep citizens from Falling into Error.
It is the FUNCTION of Citizens – to keep Governments from Falling into Error.”
Robert H. Jackson, was the United States of America – Chief Prosecutor, at the Nuremberg Trial 1945-1946.
Jackson – saw, heard, witnessed just in this period time, of his illustrious life in Law, that the words of this quote – HUNGARIANS should get there heads around and add it to there reason(s) why they NEED to remove the name Victor Orban – that hopefully doesn’t “reap” any further Havoc & DESTRUCTION, that he his Government have created inflicted on the name Hungary.
What of our FUTURE ?
It would be very helpful to understand how the list of potential Presidential pardon recipients is compiled. And the vetting process. Anyone have any idea how this works?
Also – why did it take so long for the eventual list of Presidential pardon recipients to become public??? The pardons were in the wake of the Papal visit last April – so it was quite a while before there was any possibility of public scrutiny.
This whole thing stinks of political infighting and the chance that the pedo was pardoned without the knowledge and approval of VO is…. not great.
Stop messing around and go for the plump little spider at the center of the web…..
