Foreign minister meets Egypt counterpart to pave way for Orbán’s visit in May
Budapest (MTI) – Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has met his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Hassan Shoukry in New York to pave the way for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s official visit to Cairo at the end of May.
Szijjártó assured Shoukry that Hungary stands by Egypt in the global fight against terrorism, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Tuesday. Hungary appreciates the growth Egypt has seen in the recent period and finds the country’s stability especially important in light of alleviating the pressures of migration on Europe, Szijjártó said.
Szijjártó was in New York to address a meeting of the United Nations focused on international security and peace-keeping efforts.
