Foreign ministry: Hungary position on Ukraine unchanged
Hungary’s position concerning Ukraine has not changed, the foreign ministry’s spokesman said on Tuesday, ahead of a two-day NATO summit beginning in Brussels on Wednesday.
Hungary will continue to block Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration efforts as long as the infringement of minority rights continues in that neighbouring country and rights already acquired are not returned to minorities living there, Tamas Menczer told MTI in a statement.
The Hungarian government will in addition maintain its veto against a NATO-Ukraine summit, any ministerial level meetings and any joint declarations between NATO and Ukraine, he said.
The government will however not raise a veto against the trilateral meeting planned during the summit with the leaders of Georgia and Ukraine which will focus on the security of the Black Sea region and the adoption of a joint statement, he said.
