1 May: Public transport changes significantly in Budapest, agglomeration

On the 1 May holiday, this Wednesday, public transport in Hungary will change significantly with trains, buses and HÉVs running differently. MÁV and Volánbusz ask you to check the public transport schedule before departure. They also warn that it is advisable to buy tickets in advance, as well as to use the ticket machines, online ticket purchase on Elvira or the MÁV app.
Train timetables
Trains will run according to the public holiday timetable on 1 May. Morning and afternoon InterCity trains will run with more carriages than usual. On Elvira, the seat occupancy of a train can be monitored based on ticket sales, so passengers can choose trains with enough seats, Index writes.

On Tuesday, 30 April, services will run according to the working and school day timetable, on Wednesday, 1 May, according to the public holiday timetable, and on Thursday, 2 May, again according to the working and school day timetable.
