Free Hungarian Danube Bend beaches astonishing
According to their article, water quality is excellent at the following six free beaches in the Danube Bend. Being one of the most beautiful places in Hungary, the Danube Bend has several sandy, pebbly, or grassy beaches, and some are free to enter for everybody. Some even have a panoramic view of historical and cultural heritage like the Medieval Castle of Visegrád, the former seat of the Hungarian monarchs.
Kisoroszi
The northernmost point of the Island of Szentendre is a nomadic paradise. The pebbly beach is 600 metres long, the panorama includes fresh Danube water, mountains in the background, tall trees and silence. That is where the Danube splits into two branches. The beach is free, but you cannot set up your tent and spend the night there. That is only allowed in the local camping site.
Nagymaros
The beach in Nagymaros is 200 metres long but with a panoramic view of the Visegrád Mountains and the Rennaisance castle of the Danube Bend town, serving as a seat for the Hungarian monarchs between the 14th and 16th centuries. The beach is sandy-pebbly, but there are few trees there, so you should not forget your tent at home. Because of the boats and ships, you cannot swim too far from the shore. Moreover, you should pay attention to kayaks and canoes as well, because that section is popular.
Dunabogdány
Dunabogdány is close to Szentendre, one of Hungary’s most charming villages with a unique atmosphere. We detailed that with photos HERE. The Dunabogdány beach is outstandingly clean and sandy. Its length is “only” 150 metres, but there are many trees, a playground, a soccer and a volleyball pitch.
Göd
Göd is called the Gate of the Danube Bend, and one of its advantages is that you can travel there by bike. The beach is pebbly, but the water deepens gradually there. Thus, it can become the kids’ favourite. There is a playground and some toilets you can use for free.
Horány
Horány is the most popular among the Danube beaches because of its fantastic atmosphere, great location and perfect water quality. The shore is 150 metres long.
Szentendre
The Postás Beach in Szentendre was the first legal free beach in the Danube Bend. Close to it, you can find changing rooms, a shower for four people, and a drinking water tap. Furthermore, you may bathe here with your dog. HERE we collected the dog-friendly beaches at Lake Balaton.
