Government finalises national bus industry strategy
Budapest (MTI) – Hungary’s government finalised a national bus production strategy on Friday that will support the industry with 30 billion-35 billion forints (EUR 96.3m-112.4m) over the next three years, Economy Minister Mihály Varga said at the inauguration of an investment project.
The government wants to build on Hungary’s six big bus makers, expanding capacity and raising headcount in the sector, Varga said at the Kuhne farm machinery plant in Mosonmagyarovar, in north-western Hungary. The government support will need to be coupled with credit, he added.
The government aims to boost bus production in Hungary to an annual 1,000-1,200 units in three years, Varga said.
Kuhne inaugurated a 600 million forint, 5,600sqm production hall at its base.
The Kravtex-Kuhne group turns out 100-120 buses a year but has the capacity to make 500.
