Government: national consultation about Ukraine aid and war successful

More than one million people have participated so far in the government’s National Consultation public survey, Csaba Dömötör, state secretary of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, said on Friday.

Dömötör told MTI that 1.014 million people had returned the questionnaire on protecting Hungary’s sovereignty. He said this showed that many wanted to express their opinions on the issues of Ukraine’s financing and European Union membership, noting that the financing issue will be back on the EU’s agenda at a summit early next year.

Hungary is under “a lot of pressure” to approve further tens of billions of euros in funding for Ukraine, the state secretary said.

Domotor noted that in the survey Hungarians can also express their views on the EU’s new migration package as well as “demands and proposals from Brussels that would restrict the Hungarian economy’s room for manoeuvre”. The deadline for filling out the survey is Jan 10, he added.

He said 86 percent of the questionnaires have been sent back by mail.

  1. A paltry 10% return of the emailed slanted questionnaire is not a success, but we have gotten used to failures being called success. Further, since a lot of those that got the questions do not live in Hungary, this makes it even more of a sham. The government spends millions of forint on billboards and “national consultations” and zero on education and healthcare. Get ready for more giveaways coming due to the elections.

  2. I do like the fact I keep on getting messages on “the facts” (as our Politicians see them) in emails, letters, billboards, youtube adverts, etc., including how I should “vote”. At least I would not have to think, too much!

Oh and EU – you really need to send that money NOW. Otherwise, we cannot afford to raise our teachers pay, you see.
