Govt spokesman decries criticism of Orbán interview with Fox’s Tucker Carlson
Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary for international relations and communication, has decried criticism levelled at the Hungarian government in connection with a visit of Fox News host Tucker Carlson to Hungary, and an interview he conducted with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
“Why on earth would we pay for an interview. PM Orbán and gov’t get interview requests all the time.
The suggestion that there was some quid pro quo is laughable,”
Kovács wrote in a Twitter post late on Wednesday.
Regarding an agreement with US-based lobbying firm Policy Impact, Kovács said that the contract had expired in 2019. “This is all a matter of public record,” he said. “Here’s an alternative headline: Reporters who slam @TuckerCarlson for being a conspiracist fabricate crazy right-wing conspiracy theory to explain TV personality’s visit to Hungary,” Kovács concluded.
Mr Carlson praised Hungary’s pro-family government policy on Fox News before in an interview with foreign minister Péter Szijjártó.
Having another kid must not be an economic decision anymore, FM Szijjártó said then in the Tucker Carlson Tonight.

World left wing media continues to lie about everything Hungary- you might want to make it clear any money was not paid to Tucker or Fox.
Tucker has the biggest voice in the media- no one comes close. When you have mega corperation s destroying the country and culture and are heavily invested in China. They don’t seem interested in how COVID started and the lies that are out there.
Hungary is wonderful country and most people in the world don’t have a clue. I walk around this beautiful city and try to imagine what it was like when private property was taken from there owners.
The US government has taken control of private rental property ignoring the supreme court decision that it is illegal.
I laugh when the media here whining about working with China. The biggest US corperation are heavily involved that would make anything hungary does small change. Funny how Germany’s pipe line deal with Prussia is little discussed here but LGBS gets daily coverage.
Mr. Carlson is a credit to journalism. Having watched his show for many years, Mr. Carlson has never been proven to have lied and if he made mistakes he apologized and made necessary correction.
Because of Mr. Carlson’s integrity, the interview with Mr. Orban should be accepted as credible.
1. There is nothing wrong in Hungary First Policy.
2. LGBT members are not prosecuted and information is available in libraries and the net re sex subjects.
3. Sex education should remain in the hands of parents.
4. No one has the tight to enter the country illegally.
5. Hungary has a democratically elected government with a FIDESZ majority therefore they control of all legislation which is usual in a majority government.
6. Media like in US is in the hands of a few, that is capitalism. In the US and EU, media is in the hands of left wing Marxist, therefore content represents their owners’ views, e.g. CNN, MSNBC, where hosts regularly lie.
7. Fox news is the only media that has credibility which is proven by high viewership.
Nothing more than a publicity stunt for the election campaign which most people will see through. He might have been democratically elected but sadly Hungary is losing its democratic status. Read any other information that’s not right wing or Fox!
Yes I agree. Maria Von Theresa blindly agrees with anything that praises Fidesz. Always quite weird the sanctimonious comments. One of the brainwashed trolls is all.
“Has never been proven to have lied” just means he hasn’t been caught out. Are you really so brainwashed Maria. How very sad your life must be.
The heads must be spinning – the off the chart number on YouTube alone – trending at #5 the first day. I can’t think of any other world leader would get the responce – read the 70 k comments al most all positive.
