Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film concert in Budapest – here’s how to grab a ticket

After more than eight years, Hungarian audiences can once again enjoy the music of John Williams performed by the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, accompanied by a full-length screening of one of the most beloved franchises in film history.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Heads to Hungary
After an eight-year hiatus, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone™ film concert is coming back to Hungary. Featuring a live performance by the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra under the baton of renowned conductor Ernst van Tiel, John Williams’ iconic score will accompany a full screening of the film in Hungarian at the MVM Dome on 16 November 2025. The event is part of the official Harry Potter™ Film Concert Series, which spans 48 countries and has already captivated more than three million viewers worldwide. Producer Tibor Engler believes the orchestra’s participation will elevate the film experience to a whole new dimension.

This extraordinary and grand-scale production brings the magical music of legendary composer John Williams to life with the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra. Taking place on 16 November 2025, at the MVM Dome in Budapest, the concert promises an unforgettable evening.

Hungarian language and subtitles
The exceptional audiovisual experience offers not only a flawless live orchestral performance by the 90-member Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, conducted by Ernst van Tiel, but also gives the audience a chance to relive the magic of the movie on an 18-meter high-resolution giant screen. The film will be screened in Hungarian with subtitles, ensuring children can enjoy this unique event without compromise. The blend of film, music, and live symphonic performance promises a magical Sunday experience for audiences in Budapest on 16 November.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Harry Potter film concert series back to Hungary and reintroduce this one-of-a-kind production to Budapest audiences,” says Hungarian producer Tibor Engler. “Though we all know the film well, the experience will be entirely transformed by the live performance of the 90-piece Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra.” Engler adds that this event offers a truly immersive combination of film, music, and live symphonic performance. The entire movie will be screened with Hungarian dubbing, while the music is brought to life by the acclaimed orchestra on stage.

The Budapest concert is part of a global tour that spans 48 countries and has attracted more than three million attendees since 2016. The local performance of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film concert will feature a range of accompanying programs, with details to be announced in the coming days. Tickets are now available through the Funcode pre-sale network.

In the movie, Harry learns on his eleventh birthday that he possesses magical abilities. He’s enrolled at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he discovers the wizarding world—complete with flying broomstick sports like Quidditch—and plays a life-sized game of chess. As the story unfolds, it paves the way for a final showdown with the dark wizard Voldemort.
