Hungarian Herend porcelain is world leader in the market
The Herend porcelain manufactory (Herendi Porcelánmanufaktúra Zrt.) earned 52% more in 2021.
Herendi Porcelánmanufaktúra Zrt. not only stayed afloat during the pandemic, like many companies, but it also increased its revenue. In 2021, the company increased its revenue by 52%, writes vg.hu. The manufacturer of the world-famous Hungarian porcelain items could be seen as one of the few companies that pride itself on running a profitable business despite all the odds others had to face recently. Moreover, the items manufactured are exported to about 60 countries.
Last year, the company opened a store in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and Almaty (Kazakhstan). It also can be found in Chile. There was a rise in sales in many countries, including the United States, China, South Korea, Turkey, Italy and Austria. The company’s total sales increased by 24 per cent in 2021, which is a rise of 1 billion forints (EUR 2,788,167).
Employees can also be happy about the company’s success. 655 employees and another 20 retired cooperative employees work for the company, yet no one was dismissed. What is even better news is that their wages were raised by 9%. The wages of employees have increased by 68% since 2011. Of course, another contributing factor to this tremendous success is that covid measures were strict, and there were no significant human resource losses due to illnesses.
The company’s past achievements are remarkable as well.
In 1826, Vince Stingl, who learned the craft of the fine ceramics industry in Vienna, founded the forerunner of Herend Porcelain Manufactory. In 1839, Mór Fischer took over at the manufactory’s helm. In 1842, Herend received a bronze medal at the first Hungarian industrial art exhibition. 1851 marked the porcelain’s first international success. The Hungarian product was presented at the Great Exhibition in London. Even Queen Victoria ordered a china set, which has since become known to the world as the Victoria pattern, the company’s website writes. The porcelain’s quality and beauty could be seen at the World Fair in Paris as well.
The success at the World Fair in Vienna, Saint Petersburg, Saint Louis, Chicago, and other recognitions, such as the ISO 9001 Quality Standard Certificate, also show how remarkable the company’s products are. Other important events are the exhibition in Tsarskoye Selo, and the Herend exhibition was staged at the famous Ariana Museum in Geneva. Herend “was also the first Hungarian product and exhibitor to receive the opportunity to showcase their art amid the Kremlin’s historical walls. On this occasion, Herend Porcelain Manufactory presented a gift of an over 2-metre-high giant vase to the Russian Federation,” – the list of important events continues on the company’s timeline. Herend was chosen as Hungary’s sole representative in Comité Colbert.
Hungary even presented a Herend porcelain set as the official gift to the newborn British Crown Prince George.

I love your sites.
The top 5 porcelain manufacturers in the world by market share are as follows: Rak Porcelain, Fishers Group (brands like Royal Doulton, Wedgwood and Royal Copenhagen amongst other world renowned brands), Rosenthal Gmbh, Libbey (again a number of well known brands such as Schönwald) and Meissen. So I challenge the author of this article to justify the headline that “Herend Porcelain is world leader in the market”.
