Huge turnout for the 11th Diplomatic Charity Fair – photos
The Diplomatic Charity Fair is the highlight event of the Embassies in Hungary, which was a great success again this year at the Hotel InterContinental Budapest on Sunday, November 27.
The Diplomatic Charity Fair 2022 was held for the 11th time in Budapest this year, organised by the Diplomatic Spouses of Budapest (DSB). The Diplomatic Spouses of Budapest (DSB) is a non-political, non-religious community of spouses of Ambassadors and Deputies of Embassies and Consular Missions based in Budapest, Hungary.
This event was an excellent example of solidarity, more than 30 embassies from over 30 countries participated in the event. Szilvia Szijjártó-Nagy, the spouse of Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, was the main patron of the fair. In addition, several ambassadors to Budapest and a number of VIP guests attended the charity fair.
The venue was divided into two parts. In the large hall, visitors could buy special souvenirs, handicrafts and fashion items at national and thematic stands on Sunday. The stage was also located in this hall, where the delegations gave special performances.
In the corridor and in the smaller rooms, visitors could sample national specialties, which were a great success, as they could taste gastronomic specialties from all over the world at reasonable prices. There were appetisers, main courses, and plenty of desserts on offer.
This event allowed visitors to “shop worldwide” in one day, all for a charitable cause. The entrance fee for the event was only HUF 1000 (EUR 2.45), and this, as well as all other proceeds of the Diplomatic Charity Fair 2022, were going to be donated to the following Hungarian Charities:
- Tovább Élni Egyesület (Live On Association) – helps the housing and employment of children and young people with multiple and mild disabilities
- BIZSU Közösségi tér (BIZSU Community Space) – supports children from Roma families living in deep poverty
- Heim Pál Children’s Hospital in Budapest
