Mourning: Hungarian actress Boglárka Koós dies aged 27

The Hungarian theatre and film community is mourning the loss of Boglárka Koós, a talented actress who passed away at the age of 27. Her sudden death was confirmed by the Budaörsi Latinovits Színház, which told Telex: “We are saddened to confirm that our beloved colleague, Boglárka Koós, has passed away today.“

Boglárka Koós, born in 1998, had a growing career in both theatre and film. She graduated from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in 2018, studying under renowned instructors Andrea Fullajtár and Gábor Zsámbéki, Index writes. After completing her studies, she worked as a freelance actress, appearing on stages across Budapest, including the Vígszínház, Katona József Színház, Pinceszínház, and Trafó. In 2024, she joined the ensemble of the Budaörsi Latinovits Színház.
Her stage work included memorable roles in productions such as A vágy villamosa (Eunice), Beszélnünk kell Kevinről (Celia, Kevin’s sister), and Karoline és Kasimir (Elli). Audiences also saw her in the Vígszínház’s Barátom, Harvey and A nagy Gatsby.
Beyond theatre, Koós appeared in several film and television projects, including A Tanár, Együtt kezdtük, Nem mentem el apám temetésére, and The Ring. She also performed in the play Pekingi ősz at the Kamra.
Performances cancelled
The Budaörsi Latinovits Színház announced that scheduled performances for the coming days will be cancelled. In a heartfelt statement, the theatre wrote: “Our grief and shock are indescribable. Out of respect for her family’s privacy, we will not comment on the details of this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bogi.”
Koós’s colleagues and fans alike remember her for her warmth, talent, and the passion she brought to every performance. Her untimely passing leaves a profound void in Hungary’s cultural scene.
