Hungarian agricultural chamber supports European citizens’ initiative for rural heritage
The Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture NAK, together with the other Visegrád Group chambers of agriculture, supports the European citizens’ initiative to preserve rural heritage, NAK said on Wednesday.
The citizens’ initiative dubbed ‘Together for heritage protection’ aims to collect 1 million signatures by Nov. 1 to promote the preservation of rural heritage for future generations. If the number of supporting signatures reaches the threshold from at least seven member countries, the European Commission must set out measures aimed to fulfil the initiative’s goals.
The statement said that NAK, as well as the Czech, Polish and Slovak chambers of agriculture consider it an important goal to restore respect for people working in agriculture, so all four organisations have joined the citizens’ initiative to protect the EU’s rural heritage, food security and supply.
