This is the Hungarian bath of the year in 2017
Termalfurdo.hu took up the task of finding out which Hungarian bath is the best out of the many, for the third time this year. There is a second-time winner and a big surprise among the top three.
The Bath of the Year (Az Év Fürdője) is the biggest competition for Hungarian baths. The best baths were chosen by the public, who could vote for the 200 entries from the 1st of June until the 31st of August this year.
It was a very close race with quite exciting results, as getting into the top three only took a few votes. There was an extraordinary win in the nationally known baths’ category, and a real surprise in the smaller, locally known baths’ section.
The voting competition was organised by termalfurdo.hu with professional aid from the Hungarian Baths Association. Altogether 167,000 votes were counted.
The second-time winner: The Bath of the Year award goes to Hungarospa Hajduszoboszló
Hungarospa Hajdúszoboszló is the Bath of the Year in 2017, which is not only the biggest bath complex in Hungary but in Europe, too. This spa is the only one to have won two times in the history of this competition. The first time they won the Bath of the Year title was in 2015. This bath complex is the most popular in Hungary, awaiting you with a health spa, aqua park, swimming pools and a beach.
The services in the aqua park will take you to different times and regions. Here you can enjoy the swimming pools, relax the saunas, have fun at the surf pools, try the wellness and fitness services. You can go with your family as well, as there are baby- and family pools. The complex’s 30-hectare big green beach with 13 pools is especially popular among guests. We would highlight here the section which reminds one of a Mediterranean beach with its palm trees and sandy beaches. The water surface of this section’s pool is 6200 square metres, which makes it the biggest artificial pool in Central Europe. You can have fun at 15 different lanes at the slide park.
The maximalist: The Aspiring Spa of the Year is the Demjén Cascade
The Demjén Cascade accomplished well at least year’s round too, as it placed third in its category. However, this year, it is the winner of The Aspiring Spa of the Year category. Just like the Hungarospa Hajdúszoboszló, the secret to Demjén Cascade’s popularity is diversity: it is a cave bath, health spa and even an aqua park. The Cascade Cave Bath and Spa is one of the most special baths in Hungary, it is a dazzling spectacle.
The spa has a slide tower, which is very attractive for the ones seeking adventures. The thermal bath is often referred to as the four season bath, as it is open all year until 2 am. The wellness section is equipped with a steam cabin, Finn sauna, Kneipp pool and a salt chamber.
The surprise: The Locals’ Favourite Spa is the V-8 Vizes Nyolcas Uszoda és Szabadidőközpont
This spa complex from Szentendre winning was a huge surprise, because it didn’t even make it to the TOP 15 in the last year. They were the first ones to get the five-star classification from the Hungarian Baths Association.
It is mostly popular for the diverse range of the wellness sections, where you will find Finn saunas, infra-saunas, bio-saunas, steam cabins, ice caves, salt rooms and numerous kinds of massages at your service.
The categories were selected by taking into consideration the different features of the spas. Some of the factors taken into consideration were the number of pools, the size of the town where the spa is, and how known the spa is.
You can check out the rest of the winners here, but the site is available only in Hungarian.
