Hungarian FM: “This is a war in which there are no winners, only losers”

The war in Ukraine has brought “immeasurable suffering” to that country and to the whole of Europe, the foreign minister said ahead of a general assembly session of the United Nations, adding that “the conflict must be ended as soon as possible”.

Speaking before he left for New York late on Wednesday, Péter Szijjártó said the Hungarian government would promote that position at the UN session, convened on the first anniversary of the war.

“A year ago we did not think that the war would be so long and so brutal,” Szijjarto said, adding that Hungary and its people “have already paid an extremely high price”, and mentioned inflation, high energy and food prices, as well as “many Hungarians who have died”.

“We do not want any more people to fall victim to this war … we want this war to end immediately; let there be a ceasefire as soon as possible, let there be peace talks because lives can only be saved that way,” he said.

“This is a war in which there are no winners, only losers,” Szijjártó insisted, and said “it must be brought to an end as soon as possible to avoid further losses”.

  1. Szijjarto has no status to speak on this. He has been hampering the efforts of Ukraine since the start and making ridiculas claims about how many Hungarians have died by Russias hand. How many died in 1956 Mr. Szijjarto? These Hungarians were killed by the same Russians that you now support, the ones that are killing Ukrianians and Hungarian-Ukrainians right now.

  2. Internationally, just not in the European Union, but Great Britain & Ireland, the United States of America, the reputation of the Hungarian Foreign Minister – Peter Szzijarto, is not one of respect, nor LISTENED.
The Heinrich Himmler – look alike, personifies, his adoration in an orgasmist way, to the Prime Minister of Hungary – Victor Orban.
