Hungarian government discusses central bank amendment
The government has discussed a proposed amendment to the central bank act on Wednesday, Finance Minister Mihály Varga said in a post on Facebook on Thursday.

The government conducted a detailed and thorough consultation with the European Central Bank on the draft legislation before submitting it to parliament, Varga said.
“The goal is clear: regulation is necessary that continues to guarantee the central bank’s independence, while strengthening the transparency of the National Bank of Hungary and the frugal operation expected of state offices,” the finance minister added.
