Hungarian government: “EU foreign policy hit a dead end, not Hungary”

Change language:

“Indeed there is a dead end, but it is the old-fashioned foreign policy rather than Hungary that has driven into it,” the prime minister’s political director said on Facebook late on Saturday.

Balázs Orbán responded to remarks by Iván Bába, a former state secretary, who suggested that the Hungarian government’s resistance against European Union decisions had isolated the country, and suggested that Hungary should adopt the EU’s migration laws. “I don’t agree with that,” Orbán said.

The political director noted that Bába had taken an important role in the shaping of the right-wing’s foreign policy after 1989, with a focus on reintegrating Hungary with the Trans-Atlantic alliance. “We had to meet the expectations of the western community so that we were admitted, even if those expectations were not perfectly acceptable for us … the benefit of security as a NATO member and the economic benefits as an EU member far exceeded the drawbacks, and everybody figured it was worth it and basically they were correct,” Orbán said.

  1. Yet Fidesz chooses not to leave this terrible EU. Any tax paying citizen in Germany or France must be really irritated that their money goes to this parasitic country that sucks it from the EU while constantly trying to harm EU interests. Hungary needs to leave or shut up.

    • Pretty sure they pay far, far more for the “refugees” who are raping them and robbing them in return, as well as for the bottomless pit that is “aid” to Ukraine, than the measly 400 euros per capita we get here in Hungary.

Besides, I don’t get it: They toss us a few hundred bucks per person (which they have full control over where the money goes) so we are simply supposed to keep schtum and accept whatever cockamamie policies they ram down our throats!?! Sounds very much like the C.C.C.P. of old!

  2. The E.U. has no policy, foreign or otherwise. Their sole raison d’etre is solidifying and expanding their power while abiding by the globalist-socialist-fascist diktats.

Let’s be honest here: Is the E.U.’s economy growing? Is the E.U. getting more competitive? Is the E.U. getting safer? Are the E.U. countries’ citizens becoming more free (by any positive definition)? Is the E.U. becoming less expensive and more efficient? More competitive? More relevant? More influential? More cultured?

Absolutely, resoundingly NONE OF THE ABOVE.
