Deadly assault: Hungarian man beats another man at Vienna railway station

A Hungarian man has been sentenced to nine years in prison in Vienna for grievous bodily harm after attacking a 37-year-old man who later died from his injuries. The incident took place in the spring of 2025 at Vienna’s main railway station, where the 55-year-old man struck the victim’s head 11 times with great force.
No one came to the victim’s aid
According to Kronen Zeitung, around a dozen people were sitting on the nearby benches when the Hungarian man suddenly and violently began beating the other man. CCTV footage showed that most of the bystanders did not even look in their direction or simply walked away, without alerting either the police or the station’s security staff.
The assaulted man managed to reach the airport

As reported by Telex, even the prosecutor was shaken by what they had seen. Addressing the jury at the Vienna Regional Court, they said: “I was shocked by the brutality of the blows. He hit the victim’s head as if it were a punching bag.”
Although the man suffered severe injuries, he managed to leave the station on foot and later took a bus to the airport, where he collapsed and lost consciousness. Doctors were unable to save him; his death was caused by a severe skull fracture and a brain haemorrhage. Police reconstructed the details of the attack using surveillance footage and arrested the perpetrator two days later, after a detective happened to recognise him at the same railway station.
The Hungarian man claims he remembers nothing
“That day is a complete blank for me,” claimed the Hungarian man, who is homeless. He blamed the incident on excessive alcohol consumption, though he recognised himself in the video recording of the assault. The man, who has three prior convictions, denied having any intention to kill.
Not murder, but grievous bodily harm
The court ruled that the crime did not amount to murder, as the accused had not intended to kill his victim. However, experts and the prosecution stressed that given the sheer force of the blows, the perpetrator must have been aware that his actions could have fatal consequences.
The man was ultimately convicted of causing fatal bodily harm. Under the criminal code, this offence carries a sentence of between one and fifteen years in prison; the jury deemed nine years to be appropriate. The verdict is not yet final.
Why did all the witnesses remain apathetic?
During the trial, both the defence and the prosecution criticised the behaviour of the witnesses. Several people pointed out that the bystanders reacted with indifference to the public act of violence – a response which, according to the court, might have cost the victim his life.

I bet Austrians are talking about the scourge of Hungarian migrants.
For a Magyar to be homelss anywhere is shameful. And to then be spending any $$$ whatso ever on booze or smokes or drugs makes him or her less than human.
Photos all bystanders need to be published so that their employers, neighboursnd and relatives can be aware that they condone any act of violence. In modern society, doing nothing as a bystander when crime is commited is no longer acceptable. We have come past when acts against individuals or society are private matters. Eve ryone of those persons contributed to the death of the victim.
