Hungarian prisons take precautionary measures against coronavirus
Hungary’s prison service directorate (BvOP) has ordered jails to take strict precautionary measures to prevent new coronavirus infections.
Prisons have been ordered to suspend temporary leave for inmates, the BvOP said in a statement on Monday.
Also, convicts starting their prison terms will be checked during their medical examination for any infections, and will be asked about their previous locations, the authority said. Isolation will be ordered if the new virus is suspected.
Further measures include constant disinfection of surfaces and tools, and prison staff will have protective gear and contactless digital thermometers.
Visit rules have also been tightened and include a ban on physical contact during one-on-one meetings,
and detainee meetings with foreign relatives will be placed under special supervision.
