Hungarian students made electronic race car

According to szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu, a newly-developed electronic race car was made by the engineering students of BME (Budapest Technical University) for the Formula One Student competition. The novelty of the race car called FREC-005 that it has carbon composite frame and is four-wheel drive – Daniel Boriszov, captain of Formula Racing Team, which designed and implemented the car, said.

The car will be presented at this year’s Formula Student Hungary at the Gyor-Gyonyu harbor on August 20-23. This appearance is rather intended to be a test, the real aim of Formila One Racing Team is to win Formula Student international car race in 2016.

Formula Student is the collective name of car races organized for university and college teams worldwide, at which the teams of students measure their knowledge in design and construction. The fight consists of, beyond the design and the construction of the car, the development of the whole business concept, its presentation and the ensuring of the financial background necessary to the project. The series of competition was established in the USA in the 1980s, however, races are held in the UK, Germany, Italy, Brazil, the Pacific region and in Hungary, since 2010.

The teams have to develop a small, single-seater race car, as if they were asked by a fictive factory preparing for mass production to design the car and build the prototype. The target group of the race car is the range of hobby racers, the most suitable car has to be built for them.
