Hungarian trading house opens office in Cairo
Budapest (MTI) – The Hungarian National Trading House (MNKH) opened an office in Cairo on Wednesday.
At the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen said Egypt was increasingly stable and safe, noting the ongoing expansion of the Suez Canal.
Bilateral trade between Hungary and Egypt exceeds 200 million US dollars and this should be further increased, he added.
“Our aim is to have as many Hungarian investors come to Egypt as possible,” and visa versa, Semjen said.
Minister of International Cooperation Nagla Al-Alwany said exemplary economic and political ties have been maintained between the two countries ever since Egypt became the first Arab state to establish diplomatic relations with Hungary.
The opening of the Cairo office is an important step in enabling new market opportunities for Hungarian companies in Egypt, “opening the way to further African and Middle Eastern markets”. These companies could also open the gates for Egypt in Europe at a time when Cairo is working on establishing economic stability, he added.
The MNKH partners with local trading houses to find new opportunities for Hungarian companies on foreign markets. The company was established as part of the government’s policy of opening up to markets in the East.
