Hungarian university signs cooperation pact with Central African organisations

The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences has signed a cooperation agreement with professional organisations in Chad, public current affairs channel M1 reported on Tuesday.

The agreement was signed during the closing reception for Hungary’s medical and humanitarian mission in the Central African country.

Under the agreement, staff members of the university will test and demonstrate irrigation technologies and drought-tolerant farming methods in the area based on Hungarian solutions, M1 said.

Meanwhile, the reception also saw the Chadian graduates of Óbuda University’s humanitarian crisis management programme receive their certificates. Dávid Vogel, the university’s senior research fellow, explained that the course was Óbuda University’s Humanitarian Response Manager programme compressed into two weeks.

M1 also said senior officials of the Hungarian Armed Forces discussed opportunities for defence cooperation with their Chadian counterparts, with Hungary being represented by Armed Forces Commander Gábor Böröndi at the talks.

Members of the medical-humanitarian mission trained 23 professionals from the leaderships of refugee camps and treated more than 500 people over the three-week period.
