Hungarian Visa Centre Opens in Moscow
(MTI) – After a week of test run, on Monday a new Hungarian centre opened in Moscow to receive visa applications of people wishing to enter the Schengen area.
The new facility, in north-eastern Moscow’s Polkovaya Street, was set up by Hungary’s VisaWorld-Center and its Russian partner, and employs 30 people.
Csaba Bajtai, head of of Hungary’s consular services in Moscow, said that the Hungarian embassy in Moscow had a capacity of processing 30,000 visa applications a year, while in 2013 alone some 72,000 such applications had been received. He added that the number of visa applications was increasing by a steady 15-20 percent each year, and outsourcing related services has now become a crucial necessity.
Bajtai added that though the visa centre will receive and process the applications, the consular office will continue to make the individual decisions concerning their approval or rejection.
