Hungary Calls For Negotiated Settlement Of Gaza Conflict
Budapest, July 15 (MTI) – Hungary supports Israel’s right to defend its citizens but it urges a negotiated settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the foreign ministry told MTI today.
Earlier today, Tibor Navracsics, Hungary’s minister of foreign affairs and trade, met Nissim Ben-Shitrit, director-general and state secretary of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, who paid him a courtesy call.
The Israeli diplomat is holding talks with the political directors of the Visegrad Four (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) foreign ministries in Visegrad.
Ben-Shitrit briefed Navracsics about his government’s Tuesday morning decision to accept the Egyptian ceasefire proposal to halt the Gaza conflict.
Once the proposal has been accepted by Hamas, hostilities may stop and the consolidation of the Gaza situation begin, the Israeli diplomat said.
Navracsics expressed support for the international mediatory efforts to halt the armed conflict as soon as possible and defend the civilian population exposed to attacks on both sides.
