Chad-Hungary cooperation deepening

One of the greatest security threats for Europe is migration from the south, and the Hungarian government is committed to taking help where it is needed, rather than importing trouble here, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Friday, in connection with talks conducted by a government delegation in Chad on cooperation between the two countries.
Hungarian activities in the region aim to ensure the security and stability of the Sahel, a strategically important region when it comes to illegal migration and its root cause, terrorism, the statement said. Hungary also aims to fight terrorism, handle the migration crisis and to provide humanitarian aid, it said.
A delegation led by László Eduard Máthé, the government commissioner responsible for the coordination of government action in the Sub-Saharan region, met President Mahamat Idris Deby on February 25, the statement said.
The talks focused on agriculture, animal husbandry, management of drinking water and health-care development, including a project that could purify water to supply drinking water to 800,000 people, the statement said.
Hungary’s recently appointed military attache to N’Djamena also presented himself at the talks, and President Deby reiterated his commitment to deepening military and security cooperation, it said.
We wrote HERE about Hungary sending troops to Chad, which many regard as at least strange while others are suspicious about the mission’s aims and why PM Orbán’s only son, Gáspár Orbán is involved.
