Foreign Minister Anita Orbán met Franco Dal Mas, secretary general of the Central European Initiative (CEI), in Budapest on Thursday.
In a Facebook post about the meeting, Orbán, who is also the deputy prime minister, said the main topic of the discussion was how the CEI could create practical cooperation among the countries of the region. She added that their talks also covered cooperation in transport and legal diplomacy, as well as the European integration of the Western Balkans.
The foreign minister said: “For Hungary, developing Central European transport and energy connections is a priority, which is why we are actively participating in regional formats where concrete projects and tangible results emerge from shared Central European interests.”
She recalled that the Central European Initiative was founded in Budapest in 1989. “Today it brings together 17 countries and works to strengthen Central European regional cooperation and to help non-EU member countries on the path of European integration,” the minister wrote.
