“Hungary Festival” in the Austrian capital in March
(MTI) – Vienna’s Burgtheater will organise a “Hungary Festival” in the Austrian capital in March, the Austrian Press Agency said, citing an announcement on Saturday.
In addition to independent Hungarian theatres, a piece by the National Theatre, directed by Attila Vidnyanszky, will be on the festival programme. The programme will also feature a roundtable talk on the “exertion of political influence on artistic processes”.
The festival organisers have invited Viktor Bodo and the Sputnik Shipping Company, Bela Pinter and Company, Csaba Horvath and the Forte Company, and Kretakor (Chalk Circle). A final list of participants will be published later.
To express criticism of Hungary’s cultural policy, Burgtheater rejected in September an invitation by Budapest’s National Theatre to participate in its first international theatre festival next spring.
