Hungary has highest number of defunct firms in region

Daily News Hungary

Budapest (MTI) – Hungary has the highest number of defunct businesses in the whole region, with over 27 percent of all the country’s ventures closing down last year, according to a report by the Bisnode Group.

The report, released to MTI on Thursday, said that in central Europe Poland was second with 18.4 percent, and Slovenia third with 8.7 percent of their companies terminating their activities last year.

The report also said that unlike in Hungary, in Poland and Slovenia the number of new companies were higher than that of defunct businesses. It added, however, that in 2014, 9.2 percent more new ventures were founded in Hungary than in the previous year.
