Hungary signs nuclear cooperation agreement with China

Hungary has signed an nuclear cooperation agreement agreement with the Chinese atomic energy agency, which represents a significant potential for cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy, safety, and innovation, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in Vienna on Monday.

In a statement released by his ministry, Szijjártó said “in Hungary, the Russian, US, German and French nuclear industries are present at the same time, and they can work well alongside and with each other. Hungary proves that one of the best fields for reviving civilized East-West cooperation is nuclear energy”.

Szijjártó noted that Russia’s Rosatom is carrying out the expansion of Hungary’s Paks nuclear power plant and added that the next decade will clearly be that of nuclear energy, as global demand for electricity will increase dramatically.

“There are huge players in the nuclear industry both in the East and the West and we cooperate in both directions,” Szijjártó said and added that they have agreed with Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of Rosatom, to accelerate the expansion of the Paks nuclear plant as all the conditions for this are in place.

  1. Having the Russians or the Chinese involved in your nuclear power industry is a reckless security risk. You become dependent on their technology and susceptible to coercive demands if you want to keep your power plants running with spare parts, etc. You can do business with the Chinese on a transactional basis for everyday items but once you get into long-term business relationships that involve decades long dependence you are vulnerable. The most hideous agreement was to have the Russians supply the reactor for PaksII. This traitor government wants to tie Hungary into a relationship with Russia that is difficult to undo. Hungary needs to kick these traitors out of office.
